SUMMARY

Teachers provide quality direct and indirect instructional services to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning abilities.  They plan, organize and implement appropriate daily instructional lessons in an environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, while utilizing district prescribed curriculum in the assigned area(s).  Teachers clarify goals, objectives, standards and benchmarks of lessons and assignments.  They maintain detailed records of student performance, maintain classroom order and work as a team member to complete and submit all paperwork, documentation and reports in a timely manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is generally performed in a classroom setting with frequent use of communication equipment and computers, requiring the visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer frequently.  Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with students, other faculty, staff and parents as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls.  The position also entails significant walking, bending, standing, stooping, carrying, kneeling, sitting and possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.  This position may require some travel around the District.
