SUMMARY
Laramie County School District No. 2 is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers to work with our students on all levels, from kindergarten to high school. All substitute teachers must hold a current certification through PTSB. We have many opportunities for the right candidates and you can prioritize certain schools, sometimes even certain classrooms, when you become a substitute for our district. Our substitute system will notify you by phone when an assignment opens or you may choose to go online and search for assignments you wish to fill. We are dedicated to putting students first and expect our substitutes to do the same.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Upon arrival, check in with office secretary so proper substitute procedure may be followed such as signing in, getting badges, and learning of any additional duties
- Follow teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, while encouraging students to participate
- Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
- Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment
- Supervise students outside of classroom, such as in the hallway, cafeteria, or playground
- Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, or parent/guardian in any public setting and choose the appropriate time, place and supervisor to address student /substitute related issues
- Long term substitute assignments may include but not limited to, creating lesson plans, grading classwork, homework, and tests, attending parent teacher conferences
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience: Be currently certified though PTSB and maintain certification while to remain employed with the district
- Interpersonal Skills: Friendly and good at establishing quick rapport with students and staff, ability to remember names
- Other Skills and Abilities: Flexible, timely, and a strong desire to better the lives of students through education
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Performing the job duties of this position requires the following physical demands: reaching, some lifting, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling. The employee may encounter situations where students are physically aggressive and verbally abusive. This may require physical interaction between the employee and student. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average person. May be directly responsible for the safety, well-being and/or output of students.
